Water installations
Water Regulations
Courses are available to meet the requirements of the Water Regulations Advisory Services (WRAS). Some Part G schemes now require evidence of water regulation competency. This scheme is certified via NIC Certification and can be presented as such evidence.
Unvented Hot Water
We offer Unvented hot water courses that include assessment. Successful completion demonstrates competency in this work area (as defined in the building regulations) and will lead to certification by our certification body. The course is aimed at individuals from a plumbing background or related trades interested in working on unvented hot water systems (with a storage facility above 15 litres).
The course is a mix of theory and practical training together with assessment. Our practical element takes in three different systems, giving a broad knowledge of components and layouts. Course numbers are deliberately kept low so that customers fully benefit from the knowledge and experience of in-house tutors.
The one-day course covers:
- Comprehensive overview of domestic hot water
- Main types of systems and their differences
- Differing controls and layouts
- Installation, commissioning and maintenance
Part G Package
Anyone who wants to self-certify plumbing work under Part G of the Building Regulations now requires a water regulations qualification. As the unvented hot water qualification is now renewable every five years, we have created a package combining training and assessment for both awards which can be completed in just one day by candidates with previous unvented hot water experience and / or qualification.
Water Hygiene Course
Energy & Utility Skills has worked with the UK Water industry to develop the National Water Hygiene scheme, to create a national standard for health screening and Hygiene Training. This course leads to a National Water Hygiene card on successful completion.
